Waiting formed in Pleasanton, California around 2000 with Sohail Choudhury on vocals, Chris Carrabba on guitar, Justin Berghoffer on bass, and Ross Petersen on drums. Their debut album 'Perfect Symmetry' came out in 2003 and included the single 'Better Off As Friends,' which got some radio play and appeared on MTV's Total Request Live.

After Petersen left in 2006, Ryan Gee joined on drums. Their second album 'Invisible' didn't match the commercial response of their first. Carrabba left in 2008 to work on solo material, and Choudhury and Berghoffer continued with guitarist Adam Palmer and drummer Eric Kretz. They released a third album called 'The End of the World' in 2009.
