Wallace Rodrigo came up in Rio de Janeiro in the early 1980s with a band he called Bad Boy. Their live shows were known for being raw and loud. In 1987, they put out a debut album with the same name, and the track 'Bad Boy' became a hit. The sound was gritty, and the lyrics had a defiant streak that connected with a lot of young listeners at the time.
He had a reputation for being outspoken and getting into trouble, including some arrests. The original band had Sergio Dias on guitar, André 'Batera' Coelho on drums, and Marcos 'Marquinhos' Bello on bass, though the lineup didn't stay fixed. They kept putting out records through the early '90s, like 'Malandro' and 'Anarquia'.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
