Archive material and source history
Walter Meego was a New York band that formed in the mid-1960s around singer-songwriter Paul 'Pablo' Mignini. Their sound had folk and rock elements, but didn't quite fit with what was commercially popular at the time.
After 'Baby Please,' Walter Meego put out two albums: a self-titled record in 1968 and '2' in 1970. The band's lineup included Mignini on vocals and guitar, Dennis Wilberg on bass, Bill Dowd on drums, and Doug Yule on guitar and vocals. Their other songs included 'Breaking Your Heart,' 'Forever,' 'Girls,' and 'In My Dreams.'
Though they never achieved major commercial success, Walter Meego's raw approach to songwriting found an audience that appreciated its directness. Their small catalog maintained a presence among listeners who valued that particular kind of mid-60s New York sound.
