Walupima formed in Salvador, Bahia in the early 2000s around guitarist Ailo Araújo. Their 2005 album 'Magia Cigana' gave them a national hit with the title track, which mixed Brazilian rhythms with Gypsy melodies. The song 'Amor de Matuto' also comes from that period.
After that breakthrough, they put out albums like 'Acústico' in 2007 and 'Só Pra Te Ver' in 2010. The lineup has shifted, but Araújo has stayed at the center with bassist Fred Almeida and drummer Gileno Santana. Their songs include 'Aves De Rapina' and 'Bicho Fogoso'.
