Wanda formed in Vienna in 2012 with Marco Michael Wanda on vocals, Manuel Christoph Poppe on bass, Christian Hummer on guitar, and Lukas Hasitschka on drums. Their debut album 'Amore' came out in 2014 and included the song 'Schickt Mir Die Post,' which got regular radio play in Austria and Germany.
In 2015 they released their second album 'Bussi,' and in 2017 put out 'Niente,' which had a more introspective sound. Some of their lyrics drew accusations of sexism and homophobia around 2016, which the band apologized for, saying they hadn't meant to cause offense.
Their outspoken political views and refusal to follow industry norms sometimes sparked debates online and in the press, but they kept making music that connected with listeners in German-speaking countries.
