Wanda Dos Santos came up in the mid-1980s with a sound that pulled from axé, samba, and rock. Their debut album in 1986 included "Aqui Tem Fogo," a track that became something of an anthem for them. The band was a trio: Wanda Dias on vocals, Tatau on percussion, and Ronaldo Lobão on bass.
They put out a few more records before the early '90s, like Rumo ao Infinito in 1988 and Segredos in 1990. Other songs people remember include "Insista, Persista e Não Desista" and "Deus Abriu o Mar." Their performances could be flamboyant, and some of their lyrics drew political attention.
By 1992 they'd released Espiritual, which leaned back toward axé with spiritual themes. The details get thin after that. They were one of those acts that made a certain kind of noise for a while, then the story trails off.
