Wando e Wandir were a Brazilian duo formed in 1971, with Wando (born Wanderley Alves dos Reis) from Itaúna and Wandir (born Osvaldo José de Souza) from Belo Horizonte. They met at a music festival in their hometown that year. Their partnership produced eight studio albums, including 'O Meu Mundo É Você' and 'Amor Sem Limites', before they parted ways in 1981 to pursue solo careers.
Their most enduring song is 'A Canção Que Eu Fiz Pra Você', which Wandir wrote the lyrics for and Wando provided the melody. The track became their signature hit, known for its expression of unrequited love. Other notable songs in their catalog include 'Amor e Ódio', 'Luz do Meu Ser', and 'Mentira'.
Wando passed away in 2000 at age 56. Wandir continued performing and writing music after their separation, establishing himself as a songwriter within Brazilian popular music. Their music, particularly that one ballad, remains familiar to many Brazilian listeners.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
