Wanima formed in Kumamoto with three childhood friends: Kenta Kikochi, Kosuke Fukatsu, and Shuntaro Tokuyama. They started playing locally with a raw energy that caught some attention, though their sound wasn't always polished enough for everyone's taste.
Things shifted in 2014 when they released "1 Chance," a ballad about getting through tough times that connected with people across Japan. That song helped push their debut album "Everybody!!" into wider recognition.
Their music sometimes touches on social issues, like domestic violence in the song "Kara Kara," which sparked conversations. They've kept writing songs like "Tomo Ni" and "Signal" that feel direct and personal, without smoothing out all the edges.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
