The Wannadies formed in Skövde, Sweden in the early 1990s with Christer Björkman on vocals, Stefan Schönfeldt on guitar, Pär Wiksten on bass, and Erik Dahlgren on drums. Their debut album 'Bagsy Me' came out in 1994, but it was 1997's 'Smile' that brought them wider attention, particularly through the single 'You and Me Song' which charted internationally.
They kept recording through the 2000s, putting out albums like 'Be A Girl' and 'Before & After' before disbanding in 2010. Their catalog includes songs like 'Idiot Boy,' 'Silent People,' and 'After All' that blend straightforward pop melodies with rock arrangements.
In 2000, the band faced a plagiarism claim from Suede over their song 'Hit,' which resulted in a legal settlement. Drummer Erik Dahlgren had left the band the previous year, with Wiksten taking over drum duties while continuing to play bass.
