War Engine formed in Chicago in 1998 with Michael Gresham on vocals and guitar, Joe Principe on guitar, Chris Kontos on bass, and Reed Mullin on drums. They put out their debut album 'Hell's Symphony' in 2000, which included the track 'Fucked.'
Their music leaned into thrash and groove metal, with songs like 'Party Animals' and 'Revolution' showing their aggressive, riff-heavy approach. Gresham left the band in 2006, and their later albums moved toward more experimental territory.
They released several records after that, including 'The Hum of the Electric' in 2012 and 'The Infinite' in 2016.
