Warlord formed in Philadelphia in 1981 around guitarist and vocalist William J. Tsamis. Their debut album 'Deliver Us' came out in 1983, followed by 'And the Cannons of Destruction Have Begun' the next year. Songs like 'Mrs Victoria' and 'Lucifer's Hammer' showed their mix of heavy riffs and melodic ambition.

The band broke up in 1988 but reformed in 2010 with Tsamis and drummer Mark Zonder. They released 'The Holy Empire' in 2018. Their catalog includes tracks such as 'Penny For A Poor Man' and 'War In Heaven' that have kept a following among metal listeners who appreciate their particular style.
