Washed Out

Washed Out is the project of Ernest Greene, who started making music under that name in 2009. His early tracks like 'Feel It All Around' caught attention with their hazy, reverb-drenched sound that pulled from ambient textures and 80s synth-pop. Greene works alone, handling all the instruments and vocals himself.

His first album, 'Within and Without', came out in 2011 and established the dreamy electro-pop style he's known for. Later records like 'Paracosm' and 'Purple Noon' kept exploring similar territory, with Greene building layered soundscapes that often lean toward the melancholy. Songs such as 'Weightless' and 'All I Know' show his knack for wrapping simple melodies in thick atmospheres.

Some listeners have questioned whether his music borrows too heavily from earlier influences, but Greene has talked about how he reworks those sounds into something of his own. He tends to perform live behind veils of light or smoke, which fits the obscured, drifting quality of the music.
