Wasted Time formed in the early 1980s around Hollywood's Sunset Strip clubs, with Randy Piper on vocals, Chris Holmes on guitar, Dave Carlo on bass, and Tony Richards on drums. They played hard rock during the hair metal era, building a local following through live shows.
In 1988, they released their debut album 'Skid Row,' named after the Los Angeles neighborhood. The title track, written by Piper, became their signature song with its melody and lyrics about urban life. It gave the band some mainstream attention.
Piper's drug addiction led to problems, including his dismissal from the band in 1990. Holmes also had substance abuse issues that created tension. They released two more albums, 'Taste the Heat' in 1989 and 'Greatest and Latest' in 1990, but neither matched the success of 'Skid Row.'
