Wave started making electronic dance music in the early 2000s. The group was founded by DJ and producer Luke Smith and singer-songwriter Amelia Jones. Their debut album 'Nocturnal Odyssey' came out in 2005, featuring the track 'That's How It Feels' which did well on dance charts.
They followed with albums like 'Ephemeral' in 2008 and 'Cosmic Harmony' in 2012. Over time, keyboardists Tom Watson and Sarah Carter joined for live shows, and they worked with guest vocalists including Nicole Taylor and Alex Martin. Songs like 'California' and 'Daydream' are among their more recognizable tracks.
In 2007, drummer Ethan Miller left the band. The next year, they dealt with some legal issues around their master recordings. They kept making music through that period.
