Wesley Castro came up in Suzano, Brazil, singing gospel from a young age. He took cues from Brazilian gospel singers like Aline Barros and Eyshila, and in 2013 put out 'Meu Abba Pai,' which caught on and did well on the charts there.
He followed that with albums like 'Deus É Bom Demais' in 2015 and 'Esperança' in 2018. Other songs like 'Só Quero Você' and 'Reina Em Mim' became part of his set. He's worked with other gospel artists in Brazil, including Anderson Freire and Bruna Karla.
Castro performs with a band that has included Elias Camarão on guitar, Léo Martins on bass, and Douglas Lima on drums. In 2016, he faced some pushback over a song that was seen as insensitive, which became part of his story in the Brazilian gospel scene.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
