Wesley Fernandes and Thiago Oliveira formed the Brazilian duo Wesley & Thiago in São Paulo. They started playing local bars and festivals in the early 2000s, with Wesley handling vocals and Thiago on guitar. Their 2005 debut album 'Aquario' gave them their breakthrough, with the title track becoming a hit in Brazil.
Their songs like 'Deixa Eu Te Amar' and 'Decifrar o Amor' followed a similar pattern of melodic pop with emotional lyrics. They kept releasing albums through the 2010s, including 'O Som que Elas Querem' in 2008 and 'Do Jeito que Eu Quero' in 2012. Some critics found their music too commercial, but they maintained a steady following.
Later tracks like 'Quem Tá Solteira Aê' and 'Um Sinal' showed them working with other artists while keeping their basic sound intact. They put out 'Só Pra Você' in 2017, still playing to the audience that had been with them since those early São Paulo shows.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
