Wet Leg formed in 2019 when Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers, both from the Isle of Wight, started playing together. Their debut single "Chaise Longue" came out in 2021 and caught on quickly, with its dry humor and simple guitar hook. That song and others like "Wet Dream" and "Ur Mum" gave them an early following.
Their self-titled album arrived in 2022, followed by another called "Wet Dream" the next year. Teasdale writes the lyrics and sings, while Chambers plays bass and adds harmonies. They've worked with Arctic Monkeys and Iggy Pop, but mostly they keep things straightforward, guitar, bass, drums, and Teasdale's deadpan delivery over top.
