Wheatus formed in Northport, New York in 1995, with Brendan B. Brown on vocals and guitar, Jeremy Lubbock on bass, and C.J. Pierce on drums. Their self-titled debut album arrived in 2000 and contained 'Teenage Dirtbag,' a song that became an international hit and reached the top five on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks chart. That track, along with others like 'Leroy' and 'A Little Respect,' defined their early sound.
After that initial success, the band released several more albums including 'Hand Over Your Loved Ones' in 2003, 'Pop, Songs & Death' in 2005, and 'The Lightning Strikes Twice' in 2008. Their lineup shifted over time, with Pierce leaving in 2009 and Lubbock departing in 2012. Brown has continued to work with various musicians under the Wheatus name while also pursuing solo material like his 2017 album 'Songs for the Deaf.'
