Archive material and source history

White Cross formed in the mid-1980s as a Christian rock band. Their self-titled debut album came out in 1987 and included the song "In the Kingdom," which became one of their better-known tracks. They followed it with albums like "Set the Night on Fire" in 1989 and "Hammer and Nail" in 1991.

Their music dealt with straightforward themes of faith and redemption, heard in songs like "Behold" and "Because Of Jesus." The band's lineup included Michael W. Smith on vocals and keyboards, Scott Dente on guitar, David Pack on bass, and Harry Stinson on drums. Smith left in the early 1990s to focus on his solo work.

White Cross kept recording through the early '90s, putting out "Love, Mercy, Grace" in 1993. Other songs from their catalog include "No Second Chances," "Simple Man," and "Enough Is Enough."
