Archive material and source history
White Dice formed in the early 2000s with Emily Richards on vocals, Evan Lloyd on guitar, Jake Simmons on bass, and Josh Carter on drums. They put out their first album in 2005, which was called Grand Farewell. The title track from that record became their most recognizable song.
They released several more albums over the next decade or so, including The Drowning Divide in 2008, Echoes of the Abyss in 2011, A Tapestry of Fractured Dreams in 2015, and The Silent Archive in 2018. Their music had an experimental quality that drew some comparisons to artists like Bjork and Radiohead, though it could also feel a bit insular at times.
White Dice eventually stopped working together, but that 2005 album and its lead track have stuck around in certain corners of the alternative scene. You still hear 'Grand Farewell' pop up now and then, usually in playlists or discussions about that mid-2000s period when a lot of bands were trying to blend atmospheric sounds with more traditional song structures.
