White Lung formed in Vancouver around 2006, with Mish Way on vocals, Kenneth William on guitar, Anne-Marie Vassiliou on drums, and Julia Graff on bass. Their first release was a self-titled EP that same year, followed by albums like 'It's the Evil' in 2010 and 'Sorry for Existing' in 2012.
Their 2016 album 'Paradise' included the track 'The Bad Way,' which became one of their more notable songs. They kept recording through 2019's 'Premonition,' maintaining a straightforward punk and noise-rock sound without much stylistic drift.
Way's lyrics often dealt with personal and social tension, but the band's delivery stayed direct and unadorned. They worked at a steady pace, putting out records every few years without becoming a mainstream fixture or fading from view entirely.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
