Archive material and source history
White Spirit formed in Hartlepool in 1975 with Bruce Ruff on vocals, Mick Tucker on guitar, Phil McCord on bass, and Chris Dale on drums. They signed with Bronze Records and put out their self-titled debut album in 1977, which included the track 'Back To The Grind.'
Their second album, 'Midnight Blues,' came out in 1978 and didn't do as well commercially. Tucker and McCord left around that time, replaced by Brian Daly on guitar and Steve Thompson on bass. The band released two more albums, 'Rock and Roll London' in 1979 and 'On Your Own' in 1980, before calling it quits in 1980.
Some of their other songs include 'Cheetah,' 'Fool for the Gods,' and 'Red Skies.' A live album came out in 1981, and they put out a studio album called 'One Step at a Time' in 2018.
