Whiteheart formed in Texas in 1983 with members including Dan McCollam, Billy Smiley, David Huff, Randy Stonehill, and Mark Kibble. Their self-titled debut came out the following year. They put out several albums through the late 1980s, like 'Freedom' and 'Tales of Wonder.'
Their song 'You Can See The World From Here' became particularly well-known. McCollam left the band in 1989 and was replaced by Scott Pioli. In the early 1990s, the group's support for the ordination of women in the church drew criticism from some conservative Christian circles.
