Archive material and source history
Wido was a pop act that came together in Los Angeles around 1982, led by songwriter and vocalist Michael Angelo. They had a few other members, including Bobby Lee on bass, John J. Fasano on drums, and Ron Rogers on guitar. The group found its biggest success with the 1984 single "Push It!", an electro-funk track that became a dancefloor hit.
Angelo's flamboyant style and the band's raunchy performances drew criticism and led to some bans, but they kept releasing music for a while. After Angelo left in the late 1980s and the lineup shifted, Wido faded from view. Their story is mostly about that one big song and the polarizing figure at its center.
