Archive material and source history
Wies Cave was a Dutch folk band that formed in the early 1980s around vocalist Wies Groeneveld and guitarist Erik van der Heijden. Their debut album "Het Huisje Bij de Brug" came out in 1982, and its title track "Dat Huisje Bij de Brug" became their most recognizable song.
They released six studio albums through 1994, including "In Het Wilde Weg" in 1984 and "Als de Nachten Langer Worden" in 1994. The band's lineup included bassist Henk van der Veen and drummer Peter van de Ven alongside Groeneveld and van der Heijden.
By the mid-1990s, Wies Cave had experienced some financial difficulties and member changes. Groeneveld's outspoken comments on social and political matters occasionally drew attention beyond their music.
