He was born in Boston in 1958. His debut album 'Home Again' came out in 1987, followed by records like 'Into the Fire' in 1989 and 'How Did You Find Me Here?' in 1993.
In the early 1990s, Wilcox faced legal disputes over the alleged unauthorized use of his music in Nike commercials. The experience affected his creativity and personal well-being, though he eventually prevailed in court. Songs like 'DO I DARE' and 'SHOW THE WAY' reflect his tendency toward introspective lyrics that touch on relationships and spirituality.
He has worked with other artists including Mary Chapin Carpenter, Patty Larkin, and Suzanne Vega, and made guest appearances on albums by Emmylou Harris and David Crosby. His band has included Randy Mroz on lead guitar, Michael Connolly on bass, Mark Erelli on rhythm guitar and vocals, and Todd Livingston on drums and percussion.
