er leefde een keunink met zijn keuninginne
in een kastele van marmer en goud
En rond da kasteel daar weunden de mensch'n
al even arme maar ze waren kontent
een bete van 't brood en nen slok uit de beke
ze waren dat heel nunder leven al gewend
En met op zijn kop een krone vol perels
stond de keunink te kijken over 't land
hij zuchtte verdrietig, de tranen in zijn ogen
maar keunink, maar keunink, wat is 't er an d'hand
En de keunink verdeelde zijn geld aan de mensch'n
en voor zijn krone wierd er gelot
en nu was 't er leute en iedereen was rijke
want de keunink is goed, want de keunink is zot
Maar achter een weke begon de miserie
elk schraapte en schartte z'n geld bie mekaar
ze deden commerc'en in kroegen en cafeetjes
ze verkochten under vrouwe met kop en haar
En z'hadden nu een sleutel en een slot op de deure

Maar ver in de vreemde daar zwierf nu de keunink
een mantel op z'n schoer'n en een stok in zijn hand
content lijk een kind met nen slok uit de beke
en met zijn blote voeten in 't zand.
