Archive material and source history

William Tell was a Canadian rock band that formed in the mid-1990s. Their song 'Fairfax (You're Still The Same)' became a staple on Canadian radio, and it's still the track most people remember them by. They released their debut album 'You Get What You Give' in 1996, which included that single.

The band was led by singer-songwriter Jim Cuddy, with Greg Keelor on guitar, Anne Lindsay on bass, and Phil Mitchell on drums. Cuddy and Keelor wrote most of the material, and their sound had some folk and Celtic touches mixed into straightforward rock. Other songs like 'Jeannie' and 'Maybe Tonight' showed their knack for melodic, mid-tempo guitar songs.

They put out a few more albums after that debut, including 'Invisible' in 1999 and 'Tears Are Not Enough' in 2002. The band went on hiatus around 2004, then briefly reunited a few years later before calling it quits for good.
