Willy formed in Porto Alegre, Brazil in 2001 with Lucas Silveira on vocals, Felipe Monteiro on guitar, Otavio Cardozo on bass, and Rodrigo Silveira on drums. They played small gigs around town for a couple of years before things started to click.
Their debut album 'É Só o Começo' came out in 2003, and the single 'Agente Nem Ficou' caught on with listeners. The song had a straightforward emotional pull that worked for them, and they followed it with tracks like 'Culpado' and 'Problemas de Vida' that kept to similar territory.
The lineup shifted over time, Otavio Cardozo left in 2006 and was replaced by his brother Ricardo, and there were other changes later on. They kept playing and recording, staying mostly with that blend of rock energy and direct, sometimes moody lyrics that their fans responded to.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
