Willy Crook started playing music in Buenos Aires in the early 1980s with Los Redonditos de Ricota. He left that band in 1989 and put out his first solo album, simply called 'Willy Crook,' in 1992. He worked with musicians like saxophonist Claudio Cantero and guitarist Gonzalo Palacios.
His song 'Lite' became a hit in Argentina. It appeared on his 1997 album 'Salud Universal,' which also included 'Big Bombo' from 1995. The music mixed funk, soul, and rock elements.
In 1993, a concert in Buenos Aires was canceled by police. Crook's career continued through the 1990s with these recordings.
