Wind Rose formed in 2009 in Massa, Italy. They started as a folk metal band drawing from Celtic and medieval traditions, with Francesco Cavalieri on vocals and guitar, Federico Meranda on violin and mandolin, Claudio Falconi on bass, and Alessandro Mazzoni on drums. Their first album, 'Shadows Over Lothadruin,' came out in 2012.
Their third album, 'Wardens of the West Wind,' included 'Diggy Diggy Hole,' which became a viral hit in 2015. That song's mix of folk melody and heavy metal gave them wider attention. They've since put out albums like 'Wintersaga' in 2019 and 'Renegades' in 2022.
Other songs like 'Mine Mine Mine!' and 'To Erebor' show their style of blending folk instruments with metal rhythms. They've faced some criticism over imagery in the past, but kept recording.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
