Windrider came out of Cleveland in the 1980s with a heavy metal sound that had some melodic give to it. Their debut album was 'Clash of Destiny' in 1984, and they followed it up with 'The Fire Within' two years later. That second record had 'A Warrior's Tale' on it, which became their most recognizable song.
They had a fairly typical rock band story of lineup changes and internal friction, with members coming and going over those early years. There was some talk about plagiarism at one point, which didn't help things, but they kept working. They also recorded a cover of 'Mountain's Sunrise' and put out songs like 'Across the Sea' and 'Seven Fathers Of Iron And Stone'.
