WINDRUNNER formed in Olympia, Washington in 2012 with Ethan McCarthy on guitar, Vincent Crowley on drums, and Max Korten handling vocals. Their self-titled debut came out on Profound Lore Records the following year, working with a sound rooted in atmospheric black metal.
They released a second album called 'Harvest' in 2017. By the time they put out 'Cedar' as a single in 2021, the band had developed a more layered approach that incorporated some post-metal and shoegaze textures into their foundation.
Other tracks like 'Lotus,' 'MAI,' 'Marigold,' and 'Mulan' round out their catalog. They've remained an Olympia-based act, working within and around the black metal tradition without much fanfare about their place in it.
