Wisdom in Chains came out of Seattle in the early 1990s. Their sound had a metallic edge to it, and they wrote lyrics that felt personal and raw. One of their songs from that time, '10 Signs You Should Leave,' got some attention for how directly it handled difficult subject matter.
They put out their first album, 'Self-Inflicted Mental Abuse,' in 1992. Their music pulled from grunge and punk, but they weren't afraid to let other things in as they went along.
For a while, the group included vocalist John Patrick, guitarists Chris King and Rick Woolsey, bassist Sean Murphy, and drummer Jason Brown. They recorded into the 2000s with albums like 'Black Emotion' and 'Another Round.'
