Wishmasters formed in the early 2000s around guitarist Johan Lindström, who brought together vocalist Jessica Lindell, keyboardist Jani Stefanovic, bassist Andreas Johansson, and drummer Daniel Isberg. Their first album was 2003's 'World of Warcraft: Behind the Dark Portal.'
In 2006 they released 'The Ritual,' which included the song 'Sanctuary.' That track became their most recognizable work. They've put out several more albums since then, including 'Fragments of the Past' in 2008, 'Piety and Fear' in 2011, 'In Nomine Eius' in 2015, 'Underworld' in 2017, and 'Aeternum' in 2021.
At some point they had a legal dispute with their former label, though the details aren't clear from what's available.
