Wit Crew came together in Rio de Janeiro in the late 1990s. The group included frontman Rapadura, musical arranger Djavan, and percussionist Bamba. Their 2002 album 'Amor da Minha Vida' featured the title track that became one of their most recognizable songs.
They blended samba rhythms with rap elements, which was evident on their 2004 album 'Samba e Rap'. The following year they recorded 'Ao Vivo no Canecão', a live album that captured their concert energy. Other songs like 'Amor Impossível' and 'Atriz de Cinema' show their range across different tempos and moods.
Some of their lyrics drew criticism for being too explicit, and there was a plagiarism accusation about one of their songs.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
