Within The Ruins formed in Massachusetts around 2003, with guitarist Joe Cocchi and bassist Andrew Tate joining drummer Kevin Foley. They started playing shows and put out an early EP called 'Fear Before the Fall' under a different name. The lineup that most people know came together in 2007 when vocalist Tim Goergen and guitarist Dave Simonich joined, which led to their 2010 album 'Ataxia' getting some attention for its technical playing.
They've put out a steady run of albums since then, including 'Elite' in 2012, 'Phenomena' in 2014, and more recent ones like 'Black Heart' and 'Beautiful Agony', the latter two also being song titles in their catalog. Their sound is built around heavy, precise guitar work and Goergen's vocals. They've done tours with other metal bands like Asking Alexandria and Killswitch Engage.
The current members are still Goergen, Cocchi, Tate, and Foley. They've been working on new material.
