Wolfheart began as a solo project by Finnish vocalist and guitarist Tuomas Saukkonen around 2005. He released a debut album called 'Winterborn' that year, working mostly on his own through early financial and label difficulties. The music drew from the stark Finnish landscape, setting up the melodic death metal sound the band would become known for.
Saukkonen faced plagiarism accusations in 2013, which he denied. The band kept recording and touring through that period, eventually building a steady following with albums that charted in Finland. Songs like 'The Hunt' and 'Routa (part II)' show their mix of heavy drumming, growled vocals, and sweeping guitar melodies.
Wolfheart's later work includes tracks such as 'The Flood' and 'World On Fire,' continuing in that melodic death metal vein without much departure from the formula established early on. They've maintained a consistent presence in the genre through regular releases and live shows.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
