Wormeaten came up in the early 2000s with members using stage names like The Butcher on vocals, The Surgeon on guitar, The Corpse on bass, and The Undertaker on drums. Their music from the start was built around a raw, brutal sound that didn't leave much room for compromise.

Their 2006 debut album 'Carnage Cathedral' got some critical notice for how it handled melody within all that heaviness. They followed it with records like 'Sacrificial Rites' and 'The Butcher's Banquet.'
