WWO formed in Warsaw in 1994 as a trio of Sokół, Juras, and DJ Deszczu Strugi. Their name stands for Wyższa Szkoła Robienia Hałasu, which translates to Higher School of Making Noise. They started performing at underground events when Polish hip-hop was still finding its footing.
Their debut album 'Ile jeszcze' came out in 1998, with the title track becoming something of an anthem. Other songs like 'Jeszcze będzie czas' and 'Mogłem być...' followed, exploring everyday struggles with a direct, unpolished approach. The group kept releasing music for about two decades without much mainstream polish.
They worked with other Polish artists including O.S.T.R. and Ten Typ Mes, and American producer DJ Pete Rock. Their songs like 'Świadomość' and 'Życie depcze wyobrażnię' maintained that same straightforward quality, more concerned with expression than commercial appeal.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
