Wylder formed in Los Angeles in 2015 as a trio with Austin Ward on vocals and guitar, Nick Campitelli on drums, and Will Canzoneri handling keyboards and bass. Their sound pulls from indie rock and dream pop, with Canzoneri's atmospheric synths giving it an electronic edge.
In 2018, their song "Ghosts" became their breakthrough single. The track's haunting melody connected with listeners and got significant alternative radio play, bringing the band wider attention. They'd released their first album, "The Weight of Your Gaze," the year before.
