Wyron Roberth

Wyron Roberth formed in Porto, Portugal in 1994 with Rui Rebelo on vocals, Jorge Roque on guitar, João "Bombino" Reis on bass, and Rui Maia on drums. They spent their early years playing in a crowded local scene before releasing their 1998 album "A Batalha." The title track from that record became their signature song, connecting with listeners in a way that pushed the band beyond their regional roots.

That album established their presence, and they followed it with records like "O Melhor" in 2003, "Em Nome da Lei" in 2007, and "A Vida Secreta" in 2011. Their catalog includes songs like "A Sua Falta," "Colapso," and "Não Vai Flopar" that have remained in rotation on Portuguese radio and at live shows. In 2002, some listeners raised questions about similarities between "A Batalha" and a traditional Cape Verdean melody, though the band continued performing and recording.

They released "Momentos" in 2018 with the same four members who started the group nearly twenty-five years earlier. Their music, built around Rebelo's voice and Roque's guitar work, has kept a steady audience in Portugal without dramatic shifts in style or lineup.
