Wzy formed in 1988 with Dinho Almeida on vocals and guitar. They were a Brazilian death metal band that faced some resistance early on, which wasn't uncommon for heavy metal acts in conservative environments at the time.
Their song 'Morre Diabo' from 1991 drew attention from religious groups who called it blasphemous. That track, along with others like 'Seu Monstro' and 'Anjos e Demonios,' helped build their reputation in the metal scene.
They released several albums including 'Satyricon' in 1993 and 'Dentes do Inferno' in 1996. The band's lineup included Luis Mario on bass, Alexandre Oliveira on drums, and Marcio Dutra on guitars alongside Almeida.
Wzy toured in South America, Europe, and North America. They put out another album called 'Resurrection' in 2006.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
