X-mas Project formed in the early 1990s around musicians Michael Friese and Peter Ries, who shared an interest in holiday music. Their version of the traditional German carol "Alle Jahre Wieder" came out in 1995 and became a seasonal radio staple in Europe and beyond. The group's catalog includes straightforward takes on familiar songs like "Jingle Bells," "Stille Nacht, Heilige Nacht," and "Rockin' Around the X-Mas Tree."
They released albums such as "Die Weihnachtsparty" and "Weihnachten mit X-mas Project," sticking to Christmas material without much stylistic departure. Friese and Ries remained the consistent figures in the lineup. The project's output is essentially a series of holiday recordings built around that mid-90s single.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
