X Rabbits formed in São Paulo in 2007 with Caio Prado on vocals and guitar, Renan Rinaldi on bass, and Guilherme Pinto on drums. They started with a raw approach to extreme metal, releasing their self-titled debut in 2009. Their song 'Banho de Sangue' drew particular attention for its graphic lyrics about violence.
Over five albums through 2020, including 'Desgraça' in 2012 and 'Morte e Vida' in 2020, their sound developed while keeping an intense edge. Tracks like 'Deusa Do Mar' and 'Killer' continued their exploration of dark themes drawn from urban Brazilian life.
Their work has consistently provoked strong reactions, with some listeners finding their depictions of violence and sexuality challenging. The band has maintained that their music reflects realities they've observed around them, rather than glorifying what they describe.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
