Xamego de Menina formed in 2005 in Rio de Janeiro, started by three childhood friends named Renata Rosa, Marina Iris, and Juliana Linhares. They began playing samba in small venues and street performances. Their debut album came out in 2010, also called 'Xamego de Menina,' and its title track became popular for its melody and lyrics about female sexuality.
Some of their songs include 'Vontade de Você,' 'Pura ilusão,' and 'Paixão mal resolvida.' They've released other albums like 'Roda Viva' in 2014, 'Papoula' in 2017, and 'Nós' in 2020. Their music has drawn criticism at times for being too explicit, but they kept performing without changing their style.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
