Xanaína Show formed in 2007 in Salvador, Bahia, with vocalist Larissa Luz, saxophonist Ju Moraes, percussionists Dinho Lucas and Gilson, and bassist Buca. Their music draws from Afro-Brazilian rhythms, reggae, soul, and funk, with Luz's vocals and Moraes's saxophone lines often at the forefront.
In 2020, they released "Coronavírus Covid-19," a song that resonated widely during the pandemic. Their lyrics frequently address social issues, and in 2016 they faced legal threats over a song called "Racism" that criticized police brutality and systemic problems in Brazil.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
