XequeMateRap formed in São Paulo in 2004 with members Helião, Rodrigo Ogi, and Rick. Their music often addressed social issues, which sometimes sparked public debate. The group's 2008 album was called "Xeque-Mate."
Their song "A Noite É Uma Criança" became particularly well-known.
Later albums included "A Vida É Um Rap" in 2011, "O Rap É Nosso" in 2014, and "Não É Só Música" in 2017. Their work maintained a focus on Brazilian hip-hop while their sound developed over those years.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
