Xêro Neu formed in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 with Zeca Bastos on vocals and guitar, Isaar Gutstein on bass and vocals, and Gabriel Costa on drums. They released their first album "Quero Ser" in 2018 after playing small venues around the city.
Their song "Deixa Eu Te Ninar" came out in 2019 and became their most recognizable track. The band put out a second album called "O Som que te Guia" in 2021.
Some critics raised questions about similarities between their music and other artists' work, which the band denied. They've collaborated with Brazilian musicians including Carlinhos Brown, Pedro Sampaio, and Gloria Groove.
