Xexeleco formed in Rio de Janeiro in 1985 with Cláudio Zoli on vocals and guitar, Alexandre Guedes on drums, and Artur Paes on bass. They started playing live shows around the city, building a following through their energetic performances.
In 1989, they released "Todos Os Bichos São Iguais," a song about equality that became a national hit in Brazil. The track's blend of Brazilian rhythms with reggae and funk elements helped define their sound.
Their lineup changed over time, with Billy Brandão joining in 1991 and Charles Gavin playing with them from 1992 to 1994. They released several albums including their self-titled debut in 1987 and a live record in 1991.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
